Dynamics 365 Gamification - Doing justice while calculating game points as per value. No flat points for everyone irrespective of value.



While working on a customer requirement for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Gamification, a challenge came for calculating score which looks like a short coming which needed to be fulfilled with some work around to do the justice.

A game was setup where employees were given 5 point for each won opportunity. Due to the said requirement everybody was getting 5 point irrespective of the volume of the opportunity closure amount. Few employees raised their concerns that I have won major and big opportunity but still the points are same as a person who just sold 1 license/unit of a product which is a injustice.

I would like to share the solution which I could find out in scenario to keep everyone motivated and run a healthy competition.

We decided to run 2 games. One for small amount e.g. less than INR 20000.00(2 points for each won opportunity) and one for greater than or equal to INR 20000 (5 points for each won opportunity).

I have a created a field on opportunity which stores the value a zero using a business rule on create of opportunity.

I used this field while creating KPI for opportunities greater than or equal to INR 20000 as shown in the snapshot below.





Also Create a personal view (it should not be system view) with opportunity amount greater than or equal to 20000 filter. Used the same view in the KPI so that only opportunities from the view can be qualified for the points as per KPI.

You may create multiple KPI for a single game as per your scenario.
